In May 2026, Celgard celebrated the 15th anniversary of our Concord, North Carolina manufacturing facility, alongside a ribbon‑cutting to mark the launch of new, state‑of‑the‑art coating capabilities at the site – joined by employees, government representatives, and members of the local business community.
As the original inventor of ceramic‑coated separators (CCS) – technology that has helped shape the lithium‑ion battery industry for decades – Celgard continues to build on a legacy of innovation. Our latest coating capabilities represent a significant advancement, expanding our ability to deliver a broader portfolio of solutions, including functional coatings, multilayer coated separators (MCS), and other customer‑driven innovations.
These new capabilities support a wide range of coating patterns, thicknesses, coverage, and layers, and are compatible with multiple base film technologies. This enables us to develop highly tailored separators that meet the evolving needs of electric vehicle, energy storage, and next‑generation battery applications.
Opened in 2011 as our second U.S. manufacturing location, the Concord, NC facility is a key part of our North American manufacturing footprint. This milestone reflects both 15 years of progress and our continued investment in U.S.-based innovation.
