Sustainability

Celgard is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of our business activities. We strive to meet or exceed applicable laws and regulations at all levels, from local to international.

We are committed to:

  • Pollution prevention at the source
  • Recycling materials to conserve valuable natural resources and raw materials, and
  • Continually improving manufacturing methods to reduce the impact of company operations on the environment.

Celgard® microporous membranes are produced using a unique “dry stretch” manufacturing process that is solvent-free and results in a low carbon footprint. Competitive products are made using a “wet” process that requires the use of solvents to create a porous structure and has a significantly larger impact on the environment.

The polypropylene-based materials used to create Celgard® microporous membranes are recyclable and completely perfluorocarbon (PFC) and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) free. *

*Our raw material suppliers confirm they do not intentionally add PFAS and independent lab testing verifies results below the detection limit.
